Karo, your articles and posts are so insightful, and this piece was no exception.
I felt this interview was a breath of fresh air compared to all the "Get 10k followers in 2 weeks" posts, which honestly feel so fake. There are times when I would feel behind on my Substack journey. But reading about all the doubts and hesitations that you went through and then took the small leaps anyway, somehow makes me feel human and normal again. Thank you for sharing your journey with us! Always an inspiration!
I deeply admire how openly you share the real numbers, the strategic thinking, and the emotional side of growing a paid publication. It’s so easy to make growth look clean from the outside, but posts like this show the decisions, doubts, and tiny brave moves behind it.
What I love most is that you don’t present paid growth as some magic switch. It’s the courage to actually ask for the value your work deserves.
You’ve been such a Substack big sister to me. Thank you for sharing this. 🩷🦩
Substack big sister may be the nicest job title I’ve ever earned! 🤗 Thank you for reading and for saying this, it means more than you know. We're all learning from each other! 🦩
What a thoughtful interview with perspective, not just tactics.
Karo was one of the first women Substack writers that stood out to me as being at the center of a strong community. I loved seeing how they showed up for each other and grew together.
Truly inspiring and so much gratitude for the time, care & attention you give to us as readers. Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Dinah!!! 🤗
You are so welcome! We are so grateful you spent the time to answer all these questions so thoughtfully!
