This is an amazing read—I loved how you say you meet yourself when you start from zero! It resonates deeply, as I built my lab literally from scratch with nascent infrastructure at the time and now I am building my Substack community!
Thank you for reading and welcome to Substack! Building something from nothing or building a community both strip away the performance layer. What's left is just you and what you actually believe is valuable, no costume.
I really enjoyed reading this. Your summary for leaders is so insightful. Shaming people with completion rates does nothing to enable true adoption - yet it is common practice.
Claire, exactly - completion rates are the easiest metric to track and the least useful one for actual change. Thank you for reading and for naming what most orgs won’t admit.
This resonated deeply with my current situation. I’m still in the corporate world, enjoying my job, and at the same time feeling a pull toward creating something of my own from scratch , a pull that asks me to stop shrinking.
Wonderful post. It’s true that there’s a big difference between inheriting something and creating something from zero. Both are a challenge but very different beasts.
Anna, wow. Thank you for sharing your journey. I get what you say about the grief that comes with learning to let go and move on to something new and scary. I spent far too many years minimising myself too. It was a DISC workshop in March that really hit a nerve I could not ignore - I had a result that said I liked sitting in a corner and only knowing enough to do the work in front of me. Change was inevitable after that.
Love this so much, Dallas, thank you for reflecting back so honestly. It takes a lot of courage to start a change instead of something to dismiss or explain away. Cheering you on as you keep choosing the scary, truer thing over the smaller, safer one.
Dear Sister a gift of God to you as an award for your dance:
Who Does the Lord Grant Unwavering Devotion To?
Answer By God Himself: Holy Geeta 10.7:
Summary :
Bhagavan declares that one who truly understands His divine manifestations and supreme power develops unwavering devotion toward Him. This deep realization leads to steadfast and exclusive bhakti.
English Explanation:
In this verse, Krishna emphasizes that true, unshakable devotion arises not from ritual alone but from inner realization. When a devotee comprehends the vastness of God's divine glories and His all-pervading presence, their heart naturally surrenders. Such a devotee no longer seeks fulfillment elsewhere — their love becomes pure, constant, and selfless. It is to such a soul that Bhagavan bestows His unwavering grace and accepts their devotion as true.
How To Surrender To God: Chant the God's name continuously and meditatively alongside all your righteous deeds selflessly and live a restraint life full of celibacy.
I would encourage you to chant the divine mantra of God "Om Anandmay Om Shantimay" constantly as mentioned above along with all your righteous actions from morning to bed time.
🙏Achieve the divine in this human birth only don't miss this precious opportunity. This is the aim of human birth as defined by God

Welcome, this is a great piece Anna! 👏
Grateful to be featured here – this piece hit a nerve I didn't expect. Identity work is the part of building that nobody teaches you how to do.

...
That line about ‘a pull that asks me to stop shrinking’ resonates so much.
Cheering you on as you honor that pull in your own timing. 💛
Thank you for publishing this piece. The identity struggle is real, and I needed to see this today. ❤️
Grateful you were here to read it today, and sending you big solidarity in the struggle 🤗
Thank you ❤️
So glad you found value in it!
