Beautiful story, Dinah! I love how it’s so deeply rooted in your own personal experience. Canada, the conference, stickers that only could have come from you! That you chose an androgynous depiction to keep the idea inclusive.

I love stories of reclaiming terms that were used to subjugate underrepresented groups. I love how it shows it’s not in the term itself, it’s how you use it. It’s what associations and behaviors you tie to it.

We don’t have to change what we do. We have to change how we do it (do we believe ourselves that our approach to the world is good enough?) and so does the situation around us (does the culture, does the institution value our ways of being? Can we please stop being forced to act like men to belong?).

As you know, I am so grateful and proud to be part of this community.

Onward and upward!

That sticker could have made millions in merch - t-shirts, water bottles, caps...

I did try that for awhile. I think 3 shirts were purchased. One by me. lol.

I spent years in rooms where the message was the same, even when the words were different.

This publication has existed for ten years and is not a small thing. I love what you started - it's a movement, Dinah. I am grateful to be part of it.

As a fellow Canadian I ready those moments, I remember sitting at the edge of my seat watching them play and cheering with pure joy!

As a women in tech I have had these comments tossed at me many times

Not technical enough. Too assertive. Not the right fit.

It’s unfair and uncalled for. I love your movement and your story!
