The work Bette is doing now to help kids decide what to do at school is really cool. My daughter and I tried some of her Guidance Counselor GPTs and they were really good and brought some clarity for my daughter.

Thanks, Adria, for the kind words. I appreciate you reading. Yeah, somehow I was able to make it all work. But it certainly wasn't without challenges 😊

Wow! Well, that warms my heart to hear! Transitions are tough - it's scary, but sometimes it's even scarier staying in the same place that you're not happy in.

This is a great post, Bette.

For kids feeling pressure to "figure it all out" by college application.. there is something deeply comforting in knowing that the gifts people see in us when we are young don't expire, that detours can become preparation rather than deviation, and that it is never too late to pick up the thread of a dream we once set aside.

Beautiful story, beautifully written.

Thank you for those kind words. I really appreciate that. And no, they don't expire. It is funny how things we do in high school come back around. One of Daniel Pink's pieces of advice, if you're trying to figure out what you might want to do later in life, is to think back to high school and what you enjoyed then. It's pretty sound advice.

This was wonderful to read. It’s amazing how the same work can feel so different once it’s reframed in the right environment. You’re giving students something far beyond advice, you’re giving them a way to navigate what’s coming. That’s such important work. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Thank you for the kind words, Shellie. I so appreciate that. And yes, even if the job itself is a great fit, if you work in a bad environment, it just colors everything 😞
